Background information

Biography:
M Saidul Haq is a certified management consultant (CMC) from Australia and undertook hundreds of research and studies on various business, social and development issues during last over 35 years in Bangladesh and other countries of the region including Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Myanmar. Said advises senior management on corporate strategy and planning; investment feasibility studies; regional economic development; market assessment; organizational reviews; project planning and implementation; and assists at board level with facilitation, pricing, and negotiation. Said is the founder and President/CEO of SRG Bangladesh Limited (SRGB), a leading multi-sector and full-service research and management consulting firm of Bangladesh.

After graduating (MBA) from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka in 1982, Said started his career as a banker. Building upon his experience on local and international trade, finance, and marketing as a professional banker, he ventured into establishing a trade-support service organization, excelling on research, consulting and management support to aspiring entrepreneurs as well as to government and overseas investors and funding agencies. At the very outset of his business career, Said earned a lasting and well-deserved reputation by undertaking the management and salvation of some sick industries and successfully turning them into profitable concerns. His wide contact with the government and business circle, both local and international, his broad-based intimate knowledge on the diverse intricacies of local marketing and international trade and above all his unfaltering professional commitment has contributed to his outstanding success. For his meticulous and well thought planning of activities, he is well known as a capable organizer of study projects, seminars, conferences, training programs, etc.

Said designed and developed hundreds of industrial projects and undertook pre-investment feasibility study for various clients of Bangladesh and abroad. He also conducted hundreds of sector studies & analysis, market studies, diagnostic studies, customer satisfaction measurement studies, brand positioning and equity development, development of business strategy and business plan and most of those assignments were basically for private sector and SME enterprises development, entrepreneurship development and trade & business development.

Said worked as the Consultant for Industrial Commodity Program of Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and business development consultant of Canadian High Commission, Dhaka for more than five years. Said also worked as the National Consultant for International Trade Centre (ITC), UNCTAD/WTO for its project to develop trade in services and promote Greater Participation in the GATS. Said also served as an Advisory Board member of GERIAP project of UNEP and advised on development of cleaner production and energy efficiency (CP-EE) tools and guidelines to achieve production efficiency of the industries of Asia-pacific countries.

Said has managed and undertaken a large number of nationwide household and community baseline survey, evaluation & impact study, public opinion poll/perception survey on various social, political and economic issues in Bangladesh and other countries of the region including Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Myanmar.

A Fellow (FIMC) of the Institute of Management Consultants Bangladesh (IMCB), Said also is a Fellow (FCIM) of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) of UK, the top marketing professionals? organization of the world.

Said is actively involved with many professional, business, socio-cultural organizations, and societies of Bangladesh and abroad. He is the past Chairman of the Global Advisory Council/Board of the Mystery Shopping Professionals Association (MSPA) and also former President of MSPA Asia-Pacific. He was also a Trustee of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI) and Founder/past President of the Institute of Management Consultants Bangladesh (IMCB). He is a Founding Council Member of WAPOR Asia.

Said is the Founder/Chairman of Solmaid Community School Foundation, a charitable organization providing support to the street children for primary education and skill development. He is also the Founder/Secretary General of Nurjahan-Salam Foundation, a charitable organization providing support to the rural Poor for self-sustaining and income generating activities.
